Q. What is a carrier oil?

A. Carrier oils and bases have a variety of uses and can have therapeutic uses. Carrier oils are important in aromatherapy. A carrier oil is usually a vegetable or nut type oil which is skin safe and moisturizing. We stock five all natural carrier oils; apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, and sweet almond oil. These oils can be used to make massage oils, creams, lotions, soaps, perfumed body oils, and bath oils. We also stock DPG (Dipropylene Glycol), which can be used as a carrier oil.

Q. Why can I not use essential oils directly on the skin?

A. These oils are highly concentrated and too strong to use directly on the skin. Essential oils are similar to medications and should not be over-used or applied without dilution. Wear gloves when handling, and keep out of reach of children and pets.

Q. What is the difference between Fragrance Oils and Essential Oils?

A. Essential Oils are natural concentrated essences derived from plants, bark, roots, seeds, stems, flowers, leaves, or fruits and are usually steam distilled. Fragrance Oils are typically composed of synthetic aroma compounds that replicate natural scents or create new ones.

Q. Should I purchase samples before buying fragrance oils in bulk?

A. It's crucial to test fragrance oils before using them in products. Samples are provided for this purpose and are sold for $2.00 per ½ oz. Wellington Fragrance emphasizes that they are not responsible for projects that don't work and will not issue refunds or replacements if a fragrance oil doesn't perform as desired.

Q. Do your designer dupes or inspired-by fragrances smell exactly like the original designer version?

A. Fragrance oils “inspired by” or “like” designer scents are affordable alternatives that mimic a popular perfume’s aroma profile without being exact replicas. These “dupe/type” oils are created by Wellington Fragrance for crafting or as consumer products, offering a similar scent at a much lower cost.
